BELIMBING

I have this healthy and green Belimbing plant at the back of my house. It bear fruits all year round. The Belimbing plant is also known as the Cucumber tree -(Genus Averrhoa). The tree is hardy, long lived and can reach 5-12 m in height. The flowers emerged directly from it's branches and trunk too. The flowers are yellowish or purplish, tiny and fragrant. The flesh of the fruit is juicy, green and extremely acidic. It is almost cylindrical in shape, slim, glossy and thin. When unripe it can be eaten raw, dipped into salt as a snack or added to dishes -substituting tamarind or tomatoes. When ripe, it can be preserved, made into juice and jam too.
