KRISHNA CURRY HOUSE

The banana leaf is use as a plate to serve food . It contains a large amount of polyphenols similar to green tea and gives a special taste to food served on it and aids in digestion too. We had banana leaf dinner at Krishna Curry house in Jalan 222, Petaling Jaya, for a change. First a piece of banana leaf was laid on the table and rice was added to it, then came the papadam together with assorted vegetables and the choice of 3 types of curry gravies. Curried meat, fish and chicken are ordered separately. Then eat it, by scooping it up with your right hand-sure to taste better! After eating, if the food is good, fold the banana leaf towards you, if not fold it away from you to show your displeasure!

I remember our American friend who ate at an Indian restaurant in Malaysia for the first time, as told by his wife. When the banana leaf was placed in front of him, he thought it was the placemat!
